context	- ABA teaching procedures will facilitate generalization and transfer of skills. - the purpose of this intervention was to compare the rate of acquisition and generalization of receptive vocabulary items taught using teacher-implemented discrete trials and a computer-generated discrete-trial program. - successes are built upon, with constant systematic modification of the program as the child demonstrates progress, eventually adding a behaviorally sequenced generalization plan to transfer the skills into other settings and situations. - generalization is the occurrence of a behavior in the presence of a novel stimulus. - we believed that generalization of mastered skills is just as, if not more, important than acquisition of new skills.
